Núria Giménez-Comas studied piano and then mathematics before turning to composition in 2006 at the School of Music of Catalonia in Barcelona. She studied with Christophe Havel who introduced her to electroacoustics, the importance of timbre work, and the interaction between computers and instrumentalists. During this period, she also attended composition seminars with Helmut Lachenmann, Michaël Levinas, and Klaus Huber.
She developed a body of work that is focused in two areas: timbral transformation (which involves the expansion and cohesion of timbres and harmony), on the one hand, and the articulation between music and image or music and the poetic voice, on the other.
