Yan Maresz

Yan Maresz studied piano and percussion in Monte Carlo and then devoted himself to rock and jazz guitar. He was a student, orchestrator, and an arranger for the guitarist John McLaughlin, studied jazz at the Berklee College of Music (1984-1986), and then turned to composition by attending the Juilliard School where he completed his training with David Diamond (1992). He followed IRCAM's Cursus with Tristan Murail (1993).

Maresz is an active teacher: composer in residence at the Conservatoire de Strasbourg (2003-2004), guest professor at McGill University in Montreal (2004-2005), he teaches composition at IRCAM (2006-2011) and is currently professor of orchestration and electroacoustics at the Conservatoire de Paris and the CRR de Boulogne-Billancourt.
