Clara Iannotta studied at the Conservatories of Rome, Milan (with A. Solbiati), and Paris (with F. Durieux). She attended the IRCAM Cursus program (2010-2011) before beginning her PhD in composition at Harvard in 2014.
Her music is marked by subtle sonorities, often in a high register, the amplification of which makes the harmonics audible as heard in Clangs and D'Après - both inspired in 2012 by the bells of the cathedral of Freiburg im Breisgau. When she does not turn to insects and rudimentary instruments, a number of her works are inspired by literature or poetry, such as Intent on Resurrection — Spring or Some Such Thing (2014), based on the Irish poet Dorothy Molloy, or A Failed Entertainment (2013) based on Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace.
