Trained in bioinformatics and multimedia composition, Alexander Schubert explores the boundaries between acoustic and electronic worlds. Whether in his musical compositions, immersive installations, or stage pieces, he focuses on the relationship between digital and analog and creates pieces that challenge and question our modes of perception and representation; his primary themes are authenticity and virtual. The influence and framework imposed by digital media on aesthetic visions and communications are considered from a post-digital perspective. His research has more recently led him to virtual reality, artificial intelligence, and online artworks.
