The "Science-Fictions" series offers a deep dive into the science and art of today. Each event exposes a story, a collective experience, a vivid projection into the near future, through new works and innovations in progress, their explosive or unsuspected effects on the society to come.
The inaugural evening reflects on the dazzling trajectory of Alan Turing, an unprecedented intellectual and existential adventure. Mathematician observing the growing daisies, founder of computer science, precursor of artificial intelligence, one of the Enigma code breakers, victim of a puritanical and homophobic society, Alan Turing committed suicide by poisoning after being sentenced to chemical castration. What current experiments can we imagine to explore—like Turing—code and living, software and hardware, machine and mind, the game of imitation and limitation? Can we design new Turing tests to distinguish between human and machine by using vocal agents?
