De Tinieblas is the major work of Stefano Gervasoni, his lessons of darkness inspired by the Spanish poet José Angel Valente. The poetry and music are related to the history of this liturgical musical genre which was developed in France in the 17th century. Gervasoni's electronics adds a virtual choir to the real choir in a discreet and sometimes invasive process; either in the same space as the real choir, or in virtual spaces, playing with the effects of responses and concealment, creating acoustic illusions. The video brings an additional light to these lessons of contemporary darkness. "I view composition from a double perspective: the creation of musical objects, and the creation of their listening conditions." Stefano Gervasoni is in line with Helmut Lachenmann's musical thinking, an encounter that was decisive in everything.
In the first part of the concert, Lachenmann's new string trio, which has been requested by the ensemble for several decades.
